March 23,2008.. I was supposed to send my resignation letter to the manager today..But i couldnt do it.I stared at the letter thinking "should i send it now or not?"..
To be honest,i want to quit coz im tired ..But at the same time i dont coz i kinda miss all those people i've known since i start working..Pakcik Alam Shan,Pakcik Harry(khairi),Encik Zulkifli,Puan,Chef Nan,kak ima,Atuk and many more..These people had taught me so many things whether they realize it or not.
Let me take u back to December 14,2008..
It was my first day of working..I woke up that day and just did the normal stuff.Mandi,makan,main kom,reading newspaper..Then while i was laying on my bed,around 2.30pm,i got a call from an unknown number.
A woman's voice said that i was hired and i can start at 3 pm.So i asked "ni dari mana ye?".I really didnt know coz i applied for a job at many places.The voice said something but i couldnt hear it coz it sounded as if it was mumbling.But i caught the word "farmasi bangi"..So being an overly excited 17-year-old i was,i did the biggest mistake by not asking again.I just said thanks.The moment i put down my phone,i jumped and jumped and jumped! I was so happy.
I ran downstairs and told my mum about it.My mum asked "farmasi bangi tu kat mana?"..I replied "yg dkt dgn bistro tu kot?Tu je farmasi yg adik apply"..So my mum drove me to that place.
I was so nervous when i arrived there,i swear i could hear my own heart beat! @_@
With my head held high,i walked into the shop with my newly found confidence.
I went to the counter and asked "kak,tadi ada call pasal pekerja baru tu kan?..The girl behind the counter made the blurrest(if there is such word) face i'd ever seen.Then she told me to wait while she called her supervisor.
Supervisor: Ye dik,nak apa?
Me : Tadi sini ada call pasal pekerja baru tu kan?
Supervisor: *thinking* Hmm..tak ada la dik.
At that moment,every ounce of confidence i'd mustered vanished..Just like that.
With shaky voice(probably sbb malu) i asked back "tapi tadi ada org call kata saya dpt kerja kat sini?".
At this time,all the workes were gathering around me n the supervisor-probably trying to dig some gossips XD - and all of them made blur faces.If there is a competition about the blurrest face on earth,i will bet my money on them.
Then the supervisor asked for the number that supposedly had called me earlier.So i gave her.
I waited nervously while she called the number..After about 2-3 mins,the supervisor put down the phone and said-with a smile(more like a smirk) on her face- "Dik,ni bukan farmasi bangi..Ni Palma Cafe Bangi.."
Her words came into me like a cold,sharp, steel piercing through my heart.
All i could think about at that time was "MALU!!!!!!!"
My sight became hazy and in that mist i could hear the sound of laughter coming from all around me..
To try to cover the embarrasment,i laughed along..when everthing cooled down,i apologised and said thanks..The supervisor said its ok and after that i walked out of that shop with the sound of gigle following my footsteps.
Nasib baik my mum tak balik lagi so i got into the car, told my mum everthing(and i think u can guess wat her reaction was) and then she drove me straight to PKNS bangi.
This time,i went inside and asked a woman,Kak Ima,to see the supervisor(tak mahu pisang berbuah dua kali haha)..Then a woman,Puan Ju,probably around her 40+ years old came to me.
Before i could say anyhting she asked "Ni Nabilah ye?"
So this time i was sure-and confident-i came to the right place teeheee X)
I said yes and she asked me a few questions then after that...She gave me my uniform!!
My uniform!! its not highly fashionable X) but... My Uniform!
Its a short sleeves t-shirt,red in colour..The left sleeve is black in colour while the right sleeve is yellow. (told u its not 'fashionable')
So we did a briefing.She taught me how things work around the cafe,wat my work is,how to set the table and how to take orders.After that she said "ok,awak kiranya dah mula bekerja ye".
My first work as a waiter was....washing the dishes XD
Since there were no customers at that time,i couldnt practice to take orders.
After a few hours,there was a guy-my fist ever customer teeheee XD - sat at the outside table.
So Puan told me to take his order.I was like "skerang ke puan?sekarang?nak gi sekarang ke?pastu nk ckp ape?"
Puan and kak imah laughed their heads off.
So nak tak nak kena la gak pergi..
Me: Selamat petang.
Customer: Selamat petang
Me: *give menu*
Customer: Bagi milo ais satu.
Me: Milo ais,ok.
Customer: menu biar sini dulu ye.Ade kawan saya nk dtg.
Me: ok.
I was so stiff! X)
Malu sgt5...i think i might had fidget a little.
So i went inside and puan asked "so macam mana?"
I said "takut....!"
Then she laughed and asked me wat the order was.
Then she told me that in the cafe,if the customer ordered drinks then the waiter had to make the drink.If the customer ordered foods,send the orders to the kitchen.
So she taught me how to make milo ais(like i need to be taught how to make that hehehe..)
After i sent the drink,i went inside and puan introduce me to the kitchen staff.
There were Tuk Bahadur(Nepal),Uttim Lama(Nepal) and Zulkurnain(melayu la)..
I called Tuk as Atuk coz everybody(except Uttim) called him Atuk.
So pastu mcm kenal2 then buat kerje balik..
The whole day went normal after that.
Hahaha..so thats how my first day of working went.
Working is nothing like going to school i tell ya.
Its tiring but its fun at the same time.
And it gives u a little taste of the real world.
Though there are some things i dont like while working at Palma Cafe(saje nk promote),but all in all,I love it..I love working there..
I want to write everything about it but i think thats all for now.
